10 Ways to Entertain Your Kids this Summer

Summertime is officially here and the kids are out of school! Kick off the season with these fun, yummy and (best of all) time-consuming ways to entertain your kids.

  1. Make a summer bucket list: Before it gets too late, sit down with your kids and think of ALL the things you want to do and experience this summer. Check out this fun example from The Taylor House (pictured above).
  2. Watch the clouds: Get the creative juices flowing with some old-fashioned cloud watching! Look for creatures and shapes forming in the sky, or use this kit for some educational daydreaming.
  3. Play balloon tennis: Safer (and more fun) than real tennis, all you need are paper plates, popsicle sticks and balloons for this game. Visit Toddler Approved to see how it’s done.
  4. Make limeade: Cool down with a refreshing sip of limeade! Kids will love making this recipe from Laylita.
  5. Have an outdoor movie night: Grab a sheet and a projector, and you’re all set! You’ll be the talk of the block with this kind of party. Check out Prairie Hive for some tips.
  6. Go on a family outing: Take your kids to play putt-putt, visit the zoo or go to a museum. SweetJack.com offers plenty of ways to have more fun this summer for less!
  7. Play bubble bag: Kids won’t get enough of these jumbo bubbles, as seen on Inner Child Fun!
  8. Collect items for a bird’s nest: Collect scraps from past art projects and set them outside for the birds! Curly Birds blog shows you a cute way to keep the kids busy and give Mother Nature some flare.
  9. Make rice krispies treats: Fun to make… more fun to eat! Make all kinds of shapes and animals, like these watermelon slices and burgers from Dine & Dish.
  10. Play with shadows: Whether the sun is high or low, grab some chalk and make shadow art! Learn how to have a shadow party on The Chocolate Muffin Tree.
